Dear School Community,

As a school community, we’ve seen a recent uptick in social media issues, suggesting we need a stronger approach to steer students away from online dangers.

Students’ wide access to screens, especially for social media, requires adults to be even more vigilant. Social media opens the possibility of bullying, inappropriate behavior, and worse. When social media incidents impact our schools and students, the consequences can be much more severe.

We understand these are challenging times for parents, but fortunately, strategies are available. We’ve invited Lauren Muriello, an educational speaker and psychotherapist from Well Being Therapy Center, to lead a three-part Parenting Education Series on Zoom. The program will cover social media and other relevant topics.

Please mark your calendars for these opportunities to learn expert tips, hear about the latest research and trends, and get your questions answered. All three programs in the Parenting Education Series will begin at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Links will be shared closer to each event on the district’s Facebook page and through email.

Tuesday, May 2: “The Impact of Screens & Social Media: Keeping Your Kids Healthy & Safe”

Tuesday, May 16: “Parenting Gen Z & Alpha: Raising Critical Thinkers with Healthy Minds”

Tuesday, June 6: Open Q&A session with Muriello. Parents will be invited to submit questions before and during the event.

Although parents may join whichever sessions they choose, attending all three is recommended for the maximum benefit.

As a school community, will continue seeking the best resources and professional partnerships to support students and families. Together, we can navigate challenges and prepare our students for successful futures.

Sincerely,

Kyle Arlington
