We always want to see our students perform to their full potential. However, there’s an added incentive to do well on the PSAT, which Brearley sophomores and juniors will take on Wednesday, Oct. 9.  
For juniors, the PSAT is a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship competition. Each year, around 50,000 of 1.4 million juniors across the nation will receive recognition based on their test scores. Around 34,000 of these students receive Letters of Commendation that can be included in college applications. The remaining students – the top 1% of scorers — become National Merit Semifinalists and can win a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Corporation or may draw larger awards from colleges. 

Brearley teachers have been familiarizing students with test material by embedding practice questions into regular lessons.
