December 11, 2017 [Kenilworth, NJ] – Congratulations to David Brearley Senior Christopher Kossor for being named to the CJMEA Region Symphonic Band as a Soprano Saxophonist.  Chris was selected from a large pool of students across the state of New Jersey.

In order to audition for a Region Band Ensemble, students are required to learn 12 major scales and a full range chromatic scale, a high level piece of solo repertoire specific to their instrument, and lastly they must be prepared to sight read (play music they have never seen before) at the audition.  If the judges score a student highly enough in the rankings against the many other students auditioning on the same instrument, that student will be placed into a Region ensemble, such as Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, or Symphonic Band.

Dr. Thomas Tramaglini, Superintendent of Schools described this honor as, “Most special – Chris demonstrates a host of different attributes which make our entire community proud.”  Chris is not only now a part of this acclaimed regional group, he is an Eagle Scout and an awesome staple of our schools.  “It is an honor to have Chris as a senior at David Brearley.  His accomplishments are a testament to his hard work and I expect his accolades grow.
