December 11, 2017 [Kenilworth, NJ] – Congratulations to Allegra Wyrick, a member of the David Brearley High School Cheerleading Team for being selected to the 2017-2018 NJ Cheerleading and Dance Coaches Association All State Team.  Allegra, a member of the Class of 2018 was honored at the 2017 All-State Team Brunch which was held on December 10 at the Marriott Princeton.  She was one of twenty-one cheerleaders selected from a pool of over seventy cheerleading and dance finalists from around the state.  There were 5 dancers named to the team as well.

Allegra’s coach, Kimberly McGowan said, “we have watched her grow up through the rec cheerleading program and so this was a very special day; Amy Burke and I are so proud of her.”

This was only the fifth time in fifteen years that a female student-athlete from David Brearley has been selected to this very prestigious team.  McGowan also said, “And while I truly believe all of our cheerleaders, past and present, are exceptionally talented, it is a credit to Allegra and her hard work to have succeeded in this rigorous process.

Allegra joins David Brearley alumni members Stephania Montoya (Class of 2011), Toria Strigler (Class of 2014), Haley Tekula (Class of 2016), Faith Kelly, Gianna Lospinoso, and Olivia Siragusa (all Class of 2017). Allegra will be honored at an upcoming Board of Education meeting, as well as have her picture placed next to the other All-State athletes at David Brearley.
